Palladium, like Platinum, is a rare silvery-white metal with similar properties. This includes the much desired property that it does not tarnish at room temperature, as well as the hypo-allergenic properties of of its cousin Platinum.  However it is slightly lighter weight, harder, and whiter than Platinum; and is one of the three most popular metals that are combined with yellow gold to create white gold (instead of silver or nickel).
